Please join us for the first event in our Women in Entertainment speaker series, put together with the Women in Visual Development Club of AAU. Our first speaker is the amazing Dawn Carlos!
Dawn Carlos is a concept artist, illustrator, and fine artist living and working in San Francisco, California. With almost 6 years of experience working in game development, she has worked for companies such as WB Games SF, Zynga, Kabam, Dena/Moonlighter Studios, Fantasty Flight Games and other clients both as a full time concept artist as well as a freelancer. Currently, she has been at WB Games SF as a concept artist for the past 2 years. She also has taught both BFA and MFA students at AAU, building a class curriculum as well as materials and lectures for a concept art class focusing on environment design and painting. Outside of work, Dawn loves painting landscapes and portraits in oil, as well as drink way too much coffee while she fills her sketchbook pages up with drawings. She is also currently working on and self publishing a sketch collection as a book. Dawn also loves craft beer, biking, hiking, collecting records, playing the bass (and sometimes her guitar) and her Xbox One.
Dawn will give a presentation of her work and career to date, followed by a Q + A session. After the talk, we will be hosting a small reception for students, guests, and industry pros to chat and hang out!
Since we are partnering with the Women in Visual Development Club from Academy of Art for this talk, we will be reserving a certain number of seats for its members, but everyone is welcome to come! Please message us if you'd like to reserve one of the remaining seats, and we will happy to fit as many people into standing room as we are able to.
